But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “AND DO NOT BE AFRAID OF THEIR THREATS, NOR BE TROUBLED.”
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;
having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed.
1 Peter 3:14-16
LORD Jesus, we praise You today for working out the small details and the big issues in our lives. You are an amazing God, who always comes to our rescue in power and perfect timing. We humbly ask for You to be our Strength to face the day. Thank You LORD, for loving us and for saving us from our sins. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.
Anxious of what might happen tomorrow? Fearful of the virus and what comes along with it? Worried about the consequences that will come as a result of it? Precious sister, then this is for you. Read on!
“Do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.” I sat in the car, my heart leaped for joy, I praised the LORD and said: “What an amazing God You are!”
No, nobody threatened me. I just drove a few miles to the next town to run a few errands and to shop. As I parked the car in front of the store I was overwhelmed by a cloud of fear coming over me. It surely wasn’t natural but spiritual and hard to describe. Right that instant the message above came in through our church chat. My heart was full of joy again. Now I was ready to take the key out of the ignition, get out of the car, and walk toward the store.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
Don’t despair, precious sister. Press on! Know that, whatever it is that you are facing today, or wherever you have to go this day, the LORD is coming along and right there with you, dear one. If you are threatened or troubled, don’t be afraid; instead, sanctify the LORD God in your heart.
How? Matthew Henry explains this so well:
“We sanctify the Lord God in our hearts when we with sincerity and fervency adore him, when our thoughts of him are awful and reverend, when we rely upon his power, trust to his faithfulness, submit to his wisdom, imitate his holiness, and give him the glory due to his most illustrious perfections.”
Do not fear, precious sister. Trust in God and rely on His Power.
