And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”
LORD Jesus, we praise You for this beautiful day which You have made. Guide us mightily today. Lead us on the right path, and keep us on Your way which is the right way. Bless us in all our doings and enable us to give all the glory to You, our Savior, Almighty God and Creator of the heavens and the earth and everything in it. In Jesus’ powerful name we pray. Amen.
Due to a storm the cover of our newly built greenhouse flapped quite a bit over these last days. One of the mornings I noticed that the bottom of the cover on one side was loose. The wind had free access into the greenhouse and whirled around the tiny plants. I’ve got very upset watching this and immediately wanted to control and fix everything. The bad weather, however, made it impossible, at least at this point, to adjust or change much. All I could do was to trust the LORD and leave everything in His hands.
We want to take matters into our own hands, don’t we? How can we fix certain things? Is there a way we control them? Do we need anything else to succeed? Where can we buy the best materials for our projects?
What if things do not go according to our own plans? What if thick storm clouds gather above our heads? What if things get out of hand and destruction is on its way? Then what?
If Jesus is in your boat there is absolutely no need to be fearful, sister. Believe in God. Have faith in Him! Psalm 107:29 says: “He calms the storm, so that its waves are still.” God is the One who not only tells the wind to cease but makes it obey at His Word.
What if He doesn’t calm your storm yet? Then I would like you to remember and cling to the words of this teacher:
“The LORD Jesus IS the calm in the midst of the storm.”
