In the middle of this pandemic going on, have you ever asked yourself why God would allow this? Will this ever go away again? When? What needs to happen for this to end?
Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
LORD Jesus, we praise You for You are God Almighty, Creator of the universe. You remain in control — always. You are above all and above everything. Hallelujah! Forgive us, O God we pray, whenever we waver in our faith and doubt that You are well able to perform. Help us to discover more and more of the Truth that is written in Your Word and that we so easily have access to. Let us cling on to Your promises. Enable us to learn how much we need You each and every day. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.
Why, God? Why?
Did you ever ask this question before? I did, for example whenever I was sick and not able to function the way (I thought that) I should. Then what? How and where do I find comfort then?
Every now and then I change my desktop. The most recent one contains a quote by C.H. Spurgeon next to a photo of a lighthouse surrounded by smashing waves. I find this a very good answer to why God allows us to go through hardships. (Read on!)
See, whenever things go wrong, when we are struck down by pain and sorrow, we want to know: Will this ever go away again? Or do we not? “Just give us a timeframe,” O LORD, “and a specific date so we know when things will be back to normal again.”
We would do everything possible, well, almost anything, for the hardship to go away. What steps have to be taken? What needs to happen before this will end? How can we get back to “the good life” of the former days?
Let’s think more deeply. Do we really want to go back? No! We need to move forward and press toward the goal (Philippians 3).
Instead of thinking about when this will be over with, and wishing for the old days to come back — days when we were free to go everywhere we wanted to, when we were able to come together, when we were making music, dancing at weddings, and being merry — we need to ask ourselves the question: Why would God allow this to happen. Or, better yet, What do we need to learn in and through all this?
Listen to the quote now:
The Lord sometimes allows His people to be driven into a corner that they may learn how necessary He is to them.
Press on! Read and trust God’s Word. Know that He is Master of every situation.
