that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,
LORD Jesus, we praise You for You do not only love us, but You are Love. Forgive us, O God we pray, whenever, instead of turning to You, we are seeking answers somewhere else. Help us to look to You for guidance in how to love our own husbands and how to teach the next generation of women how they can love their husbands. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.
READ — Today’s verse:
that they admonish the young women to LOVE THEIR HUSBANDS, to love their children,
ENGAGE — Fill in the blank.
What are the older women to admonish the younger women to do?
_____ their husbands.
Love is not all about feelings. It has to go a lot further than that. Marriage is not only for the better days, but also for the worse — in sickness and in health, and until death do us apart. Isn’t that what we have been told — and agreed upon — at the altar on our wedding day?
APPLY — Learn and teach.
Girls, we cannot neglect this! Those of us women who are older and/or are more mature in their faith need to teach the younger women. We should not burden the shepherds of our local church with this kind of instruction.
Matthew Henry writes:
There are lessons for young women also, whom the aged women must teach, instructing and advising them in the duties of religion according to their years. For teaching such things aged women have often better access than the men, even than ministers have, which therefore they must improve in instructing the young women, especially the young wives; for he speaks of their duty to their husbands and children.
What have you learned in your marriage on how to love your husband? Where did you find great examples of how to handle this or the other tough situation? Is there a helpful book that you have read on the subject of marriage? Surely there are some instructions which you can pass on to your daughter and/or a younger woman in your Christian circle.
Admonish a young woman today how to love her husband.
