So then neither he who plants is anything,
nor he who waters,
but God who gives the increase.
1 Corinthians 3:7
LORD Jesus we praise You for You are the One who is able to perform. You will make all things work together for good to those who love You and who are the called according to Your Purpose. Forgive us, O God we pray, whenever we tend to give up. Help us, LORD, to see how You are working in people’s lives. Enable us to see how things are coming together because of what You are doing and because of the way You are accomplishing things. Guide us to trust in Your perfect Will and Word and to do as You say. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.
When gardening we can use the best compost and the finest seeds that we can find, and we can water the plants diligently, and we can make use of a good selection of fertilizers and pesticides. What we have to remember, though, is that God is the One who will give the increase.
This is not only true for gardening but also for the growth of faith in our life. We may come from a good home, of Spirit-filled parents and siblings, and have experienced some of the finest kinds of family worship there is. Our parents not only nurtured us but also tried to pull the weeds that distracted us in our daily walk with Christ. Still, God is the only and true Source who will give the increase to our faith.
Question is: Do we believe that God is the One? I mean, not only that He has made us, and that He is our Savior, but also that He is the One who is working things? Do we truly love the Picture that He has given to us? Do we believe that every single part of it, including each puzzling piece of life, fits into His perfect Plan? (More on puzzles in my next post)
Trust and know that God gives the increase today.
