Jehovah-Jireh, Provider and Helper

Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes,
because an excellent spirit was in him;
and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

(Daniel 6:3)

LORD Jesus we praise You for You are God and above all things. Forgive us, O LORD we pray, whenever we despair and whenever we want to fix things our own way. Enable us to be still and to trust in Your Promises and to know that You are able to perform and to provide — no matter what the situation is. Hallelujah! In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen

Yesterday’s blog post, Know that God Rules, started off with today’s verse. It was going well, but then turned a different direction than what I had planned. What happened?

The turn came after I checked my emails. I usually do not check the inbox until the blog post is done, but yesterday I did. The subject line of the mail immediately caught my attention. It only made reference to our house number.

I thought, “Uh-oh! There we go! The time has come.”

Our landlords sent us an email to notify us of the upcoming house sale. It was a shock, at first, but not really a surprise. I had a feeling they would, and now the time had come.

Checking the rental market is truly upsetting. As of yesterday, there are not even 700 accommodations available for rent in Ireland and only about 100 are within our budget. The house market is not any better. House-prices have gone off the roof.

It is hopeless, or not?

Later on in the afternoon our friend from the UK sent us an email, and this is one of the things he wrote:

“God IS in charge and he will sort out your accommodation needs.”

This is exactly what I needed to be reminded of: God IS (and remains) in charge, no matter what. Yes, His name is Jehovah-Jireh, and He looks after His people. He is the One who will give the talents to men, who shuts the mouth of their enemies, and who provides essential housing and food for us. He is also the One who was the source of David’s “excellent spirit” and He is the Holy Spirit living within us — Amen!

The LORD is your Helper. He will provide today.
