Sanctify them by Your truth.
Your word is truth.
LORD Jesus, Son of God, we praise You for You are the Word and the Truth by which we will be made free. Forgive us, O God we pray, whenever we present any kind of excuse for not diligently being in the Word. Help us to abide in You. Guide us so that we will understand what the Spirit is saying to the Church — to God’s People, the Body of Christ — today. Enable us not only to be hearers but also to be doers of the Word. May all be done to Your glory. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.
God promises us that we would find Him if we would seek Him with our whole heart. And what a day it has been when our eyes were opened and we have found the Savior. We were made free. Salvation had come to us — to our house. Hallelujah!
Ever since that time, how is our sanctification coming along? Today’s verse says that we are sanctified by God’s Truth and that His Word is Truth. Knowing this we must get into the Word on a daily basis.
And you shall know the truth,
and the truth shall make you free.
Yes, the Truth — and nothing but the Truth — is able to make you free (salvation is of the LORD); but it is also the Truth — and nothing but the Truth — that is able to sanctify you. That’s why searching and studying the Scriptures is so important for us.
God calls us to be saved, but He also calls us to be holy.
Sanctification is important. God commands us in His Word to be holy (and this is not an Old Testament thing by the way),
because it is written, “BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.”
(1 Peter 1:16)
Study the Truth and abide in His Word today.
