Whenever Your Power Is Gone

When I shut up heaven and there is no rain,

or command the locusts to devour the land,
or send pestilence among My people,

if My people

who are called by My name
will humble themselves,

and pray
and seek My face,
and turn from their wicked ways,

then I will hear from heaven,

and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:13-14

LORD Jesus we praise You for You are our Help, Your mercy will lift us up, and You are our Comfort. Lead us, O God we pray, through times when we are weak. Open our eyes to see the beauty and power of Your glory. Help us in every step we take so that all be done as unto You and not as unto man. Give us the confidence that, even though we feel weak and quite helpless and alone, but You, O God, are the One who remains on the throne and who is well able to perform whatever needs to be worked out. In these times especially, remind us to be still and to wait and to know that You are God. Hallelujah! In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.

Today will be another power outage day in our home, and I’m very much looking forward to it. Why? Because these are the kind of days things shut down and do not run the normal usual way. No internet, no social media, no TV, no news — It’s like living in another “world” for a few hours.

Like I mentioned in Power Outage, Are You Prepared For It? we were not taken by surprise today, but we were able to prepare ahead of time for the power outage.

So what do we do whenever the power in our life is shut down unexpectedly? Where or by what do you generate that power you so desperately need during a time of hardship and perhaps loneliness?

1 You remind yourself that the One who is able to calm the storm is also the One who is able to send, allow, or avoid the storm. (2 Chronicles 7:13)
2 Are you a Christian called by His name? Then continue with step 3. If you are not called by His name yet, this is the day! Today, now, you need to humble yourself and cry out to Christ Jesus the LORD — For,

WHOEVER CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED.

Romans 10:13

3 If you are a Christian, you know what to do:
– humble yourself,
– pray (which includes to ask God for the forgiveness of your sins),
– seek His face,
– and turn from your wicked ways (wrongdoings, no matter if they are done unknowingly or willingly; ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the ones you are not aware of)

Cry out to the LORD God, and ask Him to forgive your sins today.
