In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.He was in the beginning with God.
All things were made through Him,
and without Him nothing was made that was made.In Him was life,
and the life was the light of men.And the light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John 1:1-5
LORD Jesus we praise You for You are the Word of God the Father sent to the earth to save us from our sins. Forgive us, O God we pray, whenever we doubt Your Word or whenever we do not do what You are telling us to do. Open our eyes to see, give us ears to hear, and prepare our heart to let Your words sink in. By Your Spirit, enable us to remember Your Word for comfort, encouragement, and so that we can quote it and therefore resist the devil in times of trouble. In Jesus’ powerful name we pray. Amen.
True, the Word was in the beginning and God used His Word to speak the world into existence, but is the Word of God still relevant for today? It sure is!
God speaks to us
In the Book of Hebrews chapter 1 verse 2, we find out that God has (sent His Word and) spoken to us by His Son (Jesus).
God’s Word lives and is powerful
Hebrews chapter 4 verse twelve tells us that
… the Word of God is living and powerful,
and sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing even to the division of soul and spirit,
and of joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
God’s profitable Word equips us
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof,
for correction,
for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete,
thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timonthy 3:16-17
Make it a habit in 2023 to read your Bible on a regular basis.
You are under time pressure in the morning? Then set aside another time of your day to read God’s Word. Maybe you are just not a morning person, but you are able to concentrate well during evenings? And if you keep finding yourself being distracted by some other thing/s then perhaps a rescheduling will do the trick? Move either the distractions or your Bible reading time to another dedicated time of your day.
Read the Word of the LORD your God today.
