Bringing In the Whole Tithe

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,
Says the LORD of hosts,
If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.

(Malachi 3:10)

LORD Jesus, we praise You, for You are the Provider. We thank You, for all that You have provided for us. Forgive us, O God we pray, that we so often neglect to bring in all of our tithes into the storehouse. Remind us of what Your Word says about sowing seeds, watering plants, and who it is that is giving us the increase. All of what we have and what we are belongs to You, our great God and Provider. Reach out and touch our hearts and let us be diligent in bringing in all the tithe into Your storehouse. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.

Before you read on, precious reader, I would like to emphasize, that the following is neither about giving a certain percentage nor about gaining wealth. It is about what God’s Word commands us to do with the resources which we have received from Him in the first place.

“The tithe equals 10%,” and some will tell you that this is of your gross income (before any taxes are deducted), and others will say that it is of your net income (after the taxes were taken from revenue). Christians all over the world will find themselves involved in all kinds of discussions about the percentage, frequency, and destination of the money.

For some “all the tithe” might be 10% of their income, but for others it might be a much higher percentage they are able and willing to bring into the House of God. There are also people out there who might not be able to give money, and so all they can bring to the storehouse could be homegrown fruits and vegetables, chicken eggs, or goods that are home-baked.

How much will God give us in return?

Giving so “that there may be food” in God’s House does not mean that the LORD depends on our giving. Far from it! Also, it is absolutely not necessary for us to “try” God just to see how much He will give us in return.

In all of our bringing in the tithe, we need to remember that the quantity of our giving does not matter as much as the state of our mind and hearts are toward it. Do we tithe because God has told us to? Or will we tithe to gain (honor, more wealth, or anything else?)

So let each one give as he purposes in his heart,
not grudgingly or of necessity;
for God loves a cheerful giver.

(2 Corinthians 9:7)

Bring all the tithe to God’s House, and be reminded of His Goodness today.
