God’s Word Is Tried

As for God,
His way is perfect;
The word of the LORD is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

Psalm 18:30

LORD Jesus we praise You for Your way is perfect. Your Word is proven and trustworthy. You are the One who made us and died for us to save us. Forgive us, O God we pray, whenever we want to go to the right or to the left. Enable us to see the good way, to stay on the right path, to keep our focus on You and what You are telling us through Your Word. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.

These past two weeks of my life were filled with enormous tasks. One job was done only to give way to another problem arising on the horizon. With each new burden came a test that challenged me to stay calm, but I gave in to some of my weaknesses, I’m afraid to admit.

We will face more or less extreme trials in our life. Then what? Where do we go to? Is there anyone out there who will understand us? Whose advice will we seek in such times? How can we get through them? What will we do? Will we find help and manage to go through the trials? Is there such a thing as a perfect and proven way that works?

Let’s go through today’s verse again:

As for God,
His way is perfect;

>> God’s way is perfect.

The word of the LORD is proven;

>> His way is everlasting and has already stood the test.

He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

>> If you trust in Him, He is your shield. He will keep you, and He will guide you on the way you should go.

He is God and there is no other like Him. The next verse in Psalm 18 tells us that He alone is able to gird you with strength and make your way perfect (32). In the verse before, David shares with us that by God he can run through a troop and leap over a wall (29).

Whenever we are confronted by a huge hardship in our life, we need to remember that God’s Word is tried. Instead of running in all different directions, we need to seek His Counsel. His way is perfect. His Word is proven. His Word is trustworthy.

Matthew Henry comments on today’s verse that,

There is no flaw in God’s works, nor any fault to be found with what he does, Ecc. 3:14. And what he undertakes he will go through with, whatever difficulties lie in the way; what God begins to build he is able to finish.

Hallelujah! Praise the LORD!

Remember the Word and fear the LORD (and not your troubles) today.
